Mustang for Zach!!

Seeing as my husband is the most wonderful man on the planet I went and got him a 2008 Ford Mustang yesterday. I have to be honest, it was really fun watching the salesmen go from "oh this stupid girl is going to get bent over" to "yes Mrs. Whisman, what can we do to earn your business!" Zach had been driving his Kia for way too long. It was time for Zach to have something just for him!

I love you Zach....Enjoy your new baby!!

Owening my owen home!

This is for anyone out there looking to advance the marketing dept. of their company. You need to get in touch with this guy! I too am hoping to "OWEN" my "owen" home one day. I know it is a stretch to think one day I could actually owen my owen home, but with ambition and dedication (and, free recorded messages of course) I will see the realization of that dream! God Bless America!!!

Mom....What is Polygamy???

This morning was like every other school morning. I was watching the news and getting the kids dressed and ready for the day. The Story about the Polygamy scandal was running in the back ground and this is the conversation that ensued...
.
.
Elise: What is Polll-i-gamy?
.
.
Me: It is a grown-up thing honey, but it isn't a good thing.
.
.
Elise: Well, the TV said there was a guy that had so many wives!
.
.
Me: (Thinkin to myself....crap, ok, here it goes), Well, some religions and cultures believe that it is ok to have more than one wife. We don't believe that that is correct or appropriate, but that is how they chose to live their life.
.
.
Elise: Well they said the kids went to a fester home (yep she said fester...not a type O), whats a fester home?
.
.
Me: Well, sometimes parents aren't good to their kids, and the police come and take the kids away and give them to people that will take care of them and love them.
.
.
Elise: Oh, (with fear in her voice) will I ever be put in a foster home?
.
. Me: No, you won't ever be put in a foster home. Me and your Daddy love you and will always take care of you. Foster homes are only for kids that don't have good parents to take care of them.
.
.
Elise: Well what happens to them in a foster home?
.
.
Me: Well, you know JoJo, Randy, and Lacy, they are Lacy's foster parents, and then one day soon they will adopt her and she will be their kid forever.
.
.
Elise: Whats adoption?
.
.
(WILL THE QUESTIONS EVER END!!!!!!)
.
.
Me: Well, Lacy didn't come out of JoJo's tummy, but Lacy didn't have a mommy and daddy to take of her because the lady that grew Lacy in her tummy was a bad lady. When JoJo and Randy found out that Lacy needed a mommy and daddy they wanted to take care of her and have her as their own kid. So in a couple of months they are going to go before a judge (thank God she knew what a judge was) and ask if they can be Lacy's mommy and daddy. Then the judge will sign a paper that says Lacy is a permenant member of the Isley family.
.
.
Elise: Oh, that was very nice of JoJo and Randy, but I hope Randy doesn't get too many wives!!!
.
.
.
At that point it was time for school, and I said, "no baby, Randy isn't a polygamist and will only have JoJo as a wife, and Lacy is their kid because they love her and want her in their home. She accepted that, and was off to school for the day.
I sighed a big sigh because my six year old thinks polygamy and adoption are one in the same.
Oh well, I guess you can't win them all!

Hypocrisy????

If a dear friend calls you, and asks you if she should buy a jumper for her daughter, and you say no in an effort to be fiscally responsible........and then a week later you find the most awesome waterslide/pool/tunnel/jumper ever......and....it happens to fall in your cart, is that being hypocritical?
I may need to consult a higher power. Dictionary.com states:
1. The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness.
2.An act or instance of such falseness.
So, I feel we can come to the conclusion that my overall fiscal responsibleness (not sure that is a word, but go with me) allows for the giving of good advice to my very dear friend, even if I don't follow that advice %100 of the time!
Besides, who could pass up the coolest backyard toy of all time? What kind of mother would that make me. You must think of the CHILDREN!!

80's hair....Where is the AquaNet?

Just when I thought there was no use for my horrible hair in the 80's, my daughter comes home and tells me it is 80's hair day at school!!!! It was no easy task remembering how to use the hairspray and blow dryer all at once, but we got it. I was a tiny bit disappointed by the lack of height, but what can I say, with a days notice I didn't have time to buy the AquaNet!

My Life as a Whisman
